SCHEME OF EXAMINATIONS AND PASS CRITERIA

DETAILS OF SCHEME OF EXAMINATIONS AND PASS CRITERIA(as per CBSE Guidelines)


Classes VI to VIII

  1. Each academic year has been divided into two terms i.e. First Term & Second Term. The first term will be from April to September and Second Term from October to March.
  2. There are four Formative Assessments [i.e FA1, FA2, FA3 & FA4] and two Summative Assessments [i.e SA1 & SA2].
  3. The weight-age of Formative Assessments will be 10% each for FA1, FA2, FA3 & FA4 [Total 40% for Formatives]. The weight-age of Summative Assessments will be 30% each for SA1 & SA2 [Total 60% for Summative]
  4. Term I will consist of FA1 + FA2 + SA1 = 50%.

Term II will consist of FA3 + FA4 + SA2 = 50%

Final Assessment will be Term I + Term II = 100%

Note : The grading for scholastic area will be done on a 9 point scale as follows :

 

A1 (91-100),                    A2 (81-90),

B1 (71-80),                        B2 (61-70),

C1 (51-60),                       C2 (41-50),

D (33-40),                       E1 (21-32),

E2 (00-20)

  1. Exams will be neither pre-poned nor post-poned for any reasons.
  2. 75% attendance is a must to be promoted to next higher class.
  3. Final Promotion will be based on RTE Act of Govt.

 

Classes IX & X

  1. Each academic year has been divided into two terms i.e. First Term & Second Term. The first term will be from April to September and Second Term from October to March.

  1. (a). It is mandatory to obtain minimum 25% marks in the Summative Assessments (both

       SA1 & SA2 taken together). Those obtaining less than 25% marks in a subject SA1+SA2   

       shall not qualify that subject. i.e. SA1 30% + SA2 30%= Total 60%. Out of 60 students  

       must score 15 marks to pass in that particular subject.

(b). To qualify in a subject, one must obtain Grade D.

(c). Those students who have obtained Grade  E1 or E2 in the subject(s) shall have to

       improve their performance within one month from the declaration of the result to

       qualify in the subject(s).

  1. It will be compulsory to appear in both the Summative Assessments.
  2. Marks obtained in both the SAs will be totalled & then converted into respective grades.
  3. CBSE has initiated Assessment of Speaking & Listening Skills (ASL) in Classes IX & X  and Open Text Based Assessments (OTBA)  in classes IX  to focus on communicative aspects of language learning & problems based on higher order reasoning skills.
  4. The grade scored in the Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skill (ASL) in English will be a part of SA1 & SA2 (70+20) respectively and will be reflected as an aggregate grade in the Performance Profile.
  5. Exams will be neither pre-poned nor post-poned for any reasons.
  6. 75% attendance is a must to be promoted to next higher class.
  7. Students whose attendance is less than 75% will not be permitted to give SA I / SA II. Report of short attendance will be sent by the School Management to CBSE Office.

 

Class XI

  1. The total marks will be 100 which include 40% of Mid Term + 40% of Final Term + 20% of Unit Test [UT1+UT2+UT3+UT4].
  2. It will be compulsory to appear in all the Tests.
  3. In Class XI scoring 33% in theory & Practical papers separately is essential in Mid Term & Final Term Examination.
  4. 75% attendance is a must to be promoted to next higher class.
  5. Students whose attendance is less than 75% will not be permitted to give Final Exam. Report of short attendance will be sent by the School Management to CBSE Office.
  6. Practical /Oral Exams will be neither pre-poned nor post-poned for any reasons.
  7. OTBA (Open Text Book Assessment) question will be a part of Biology & Economics.
  8. Promotion is granted on the basis of the whole year’s performance of the student.
  9. No re-test is permitted.
  10. CBSE has initiated Assessment of Speaking & Listening Skills (ASL) and Open Text Based Assessments (OTBA)  in class XI  to focus on communicative aspects of language learning & problems based on higher order reasoning skills.

 

Class XII

(as per CBSE Guidelines)

  1. The Scheme of Examinations and Pass Criteria for All India/Delhi Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by the Board shall be as laid down from time to time.
  2. The Board will conduct the external examinations at the end of Class XII.
  3. Class XII examination will be based on the syllabi as prescribed by the Board for Class XII from time to time.
  4. Number of papers, duration of examination and marks for each subject/paper will be as specified in the curriculum for the year.
  5. The examination would be conducted in theory as well as in practical examination, depending upon the nature of the subject(s) and the marks/grades allotted shall be as prescribed in the curriculum.
  6. Marks/grades shall be awarded for individual subjects and the aggregate marks shall not be given.
    Grading
  7. Assessment of theory/practical papers in external subjects shall be in numerical scores. In addition to numerical scores, the Board shall indicate grades in the mark sheets issued to the candidates in case of subjects of external examinations. In case of internal assessment subjects, only grades shall be shown.
  8. Letter grades on a nine-point scale shall be used.
  9. The grades shall be derived from scores in case of subjects of external examination. In case of subjects of internal assessment, the schools shall award these grades.
  10. The qualifying marks in each subject of external examination shall be 33%. However, in a subject involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33% marks in the theory and 33% marks in the practical separately in addition to 33% marks in aggregate, in order to qualify in that subject.
  11. For awarding the grades, the Board shall put all the passed students in a rank order and will award grades as follows:
